In compliance with new 2014 DOT requirements, Mobile Health is proud to have Natalya Ageyeva as a Certified Medical Examiner by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Natalya will be responsible for all DOT exams in Mobile Health’s Queens medical center. Mobile Health is a regional provider of DOT physicals and drug testing.

Natalya is joined by Sara Ghaytanchi, Mobile Health’s Clinical Services Manager, who was certified in July of 2013. Sara is responsible for administering and overseeing all DOT exams in Mobile Health’s Manhattan medical center.

This new certification comes as FMCSA, part of the Department of Transportation (DOT), is mandating that starting in May 21, 2014 all DOT exams are to be performed by a certified medical examiner.

As before, all DOT regulated truck drivers must pass a pre-employment and annual medical exams including a physical and drug test. But before this regulation, some drivers would engage in exam fraud and sell medical exam certifications. As Dr. Cowl from the Mayo Clinic describes:

“There’s a lot of stories of going down to the truck stop to get a medical exam that you just buy from somebody,” Cowl said. “It’s like handing out baseball cards. You want a medical exam? Here, here’s a card for you. And those days are going to be gone after May 21 of 2014.”

In addition, a variety of health care professionals were providing passing remarks that were unaware of the unique challenges and difficulties of driving a truck for over 10 hours a day. The new rule will ensure that there is an official registry of medical examiners who are properly trained to evaluate an individual’s health as it pertains to driving a commercial vehicle.

Currently Mobile Health has their Manhattan and Queens locations listed in the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners, with plans to expand to Brooklyn, Bronx, Hempstead, and Staten Island over the next few months. Such coverage will make Mobile Health the only medical provider covering all five boroughs of New York City.

Andrew Shulman, CEO of Mobile Health, shares “Once rolled out, Mobile Health clients will schedule DOT exams online for any location across New York City and Nassau County. With all offices near mass transit, we hope to have the most easily accessible DOT Medical Examiner network in New York City”.

Mobile Health is an occupational health provider with a special focus on employee screening services. With 6 locations in Manhattan, Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and Hempstead, Mobile Health is a regional provider of drug tests, employment physicals, and other employee health related services.
